The Hyena

The Hyena – Meteor is our newest fairway driver. It was designed to be a very straight flying driver, great for getting that perfect S flight pattern. It also offers the ability for hyzer flips and has an incredible amount of glide. Whether you throw 100 feet or 500, it will find a spot in the bag. Hyena will be available in our premium Lava and Meteor plastics.

  • STATUS
    Threatened (Spotted Hyena)
  • SCIENTIFIC NAME
    Hyaenidae
  • WEIGHT
    88-190 pounds
  • LENGTH
    4-5.9 feet

Because of habitat loss and widespread hunting, Hyena are classified as near-threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the body that sets the conservation status of species.

Spotted hyenas are locally extinct throughout much of South Africa, as well as West and central Africa. Persecuted by farmers and poachers, their numbers seem to be declining outside of protected areas.

Many spotted hyena populations in eastern, central and western Africa are thought to be patchy and declining. Persecution by humans appears to be the main reason for this decline, partly due to their historical association, through legend and folklore, with witchcraft and the supernatural. They also come into conflict with humans when they prey on domestic livestock and are frequently killed in roads.

Unlike other declining large carnivores their populations are afforded inconsistent protection from shooting, poisoning and snaring, with local classifications ranging from ‘vermin’ to ‘fully protected in conservation areas’.

This disc has some crazy glide! It is so easy to throw and it goes so far on little power. It also hold the anhyzer and just keeps turning. Great disc!
